Sioux City Lodge #112 weathers the Pandemic.

Well, it has been an interesting year for everyone.  At Sioux City Lodge #112 we have a great group of members volunteering and supporting our lodge.  We had to get a little creative to keep us going during the pandemic.

We started our Tuesday Night Burger Night and Friday Night Dinner as carry-out only meals.  This was started with all volunteer cooks and dishwashers for quite a few months. We have been slowly opening back up and our food nights have been doing really well.  In the month of August, we had an outdoor Luau on the patio.  We have live music and served close to 90 dinners that night.

For September 11th, we served a prime rib dinner and had a special service for Freedom Day.  Thank you to the Sioux City Fire Dept and Sioux City Police Dept for sending 2 flag presenters, a bagpiper, and drum player to our lodge.  It was a wonderful ceremony.

We received the Gratitude Grant going towards bilingual fire safety education materials, Learn Not to Burn, additional educational material and smoke detectors.  We were presented with the Freedom Grant which provides coats for military children.  We also received the Beacon grant going towards the back pack program for our local food bank.  Thank you to our member, George Gengler, for all your hard work on this.

Finally, like I said at the beginning, it’s been a tough year.  However, I’ve seen a lot of our members really step up in some kind of capacity.  We have some really great members in Sioux City.

Thank you very much.
