ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL ANNUAL

VETERANS CHRISTMAS PROJECT

THANK  YOU  MEMBERS!!

Our largest annual veterans project each year is our Christmas Giving Tree Project.  This project includes providing Christmas gifts and food gift cards to veterans families identified to be in need.

Nina Steele is in charge of the Project.  She has done an amazing job once again and that wasn’t an easy accomplishment because of COVID.  She spent hours organizing, shopping, wrapping, checking and rechecking to make sure all were accounted for and then getting all gifts in bags for the correct Family.

THANKS  TO  YOU  NINA!!

The Des Moines Vets Center located in West Des Moines provided us with 14 families consisting of 32 children and Larry Cramer representing the Urbandale/Johnston VFW Vets Center with 4 families and 16 children.  Confidentiality of each family is necessary.  The Vets Center personnel and Larry pick up the gifts at the Lodge and deliver them to the families.  We also included stockings stuffed with candy, fruit and food gift card/s from Safeway Grocery for each family to have a good Christmas dinner.  This project was completed on December 17th when all items were picked up from our Lodge.

We normally have fundraisers throughout the year to fund this Project.  However, COVID prevented that this year.  Hence, we asked for monetary donations to complete this Project.  A huge Thank You to each and everyone who took a card/s and purchased all of the items the children ask for and or made a monetary donation.  The food gift cards purchased totaled $2,400.00  This year the total Project valued at $7,200.00 was totally funded by donations of our Members.
